Elon musk ai investment, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, is reportedly launching a new artificial intelligence company to go head-to-head with OpenAI. According to the Financial Times, he registered a Nevada corporation called xAI and named himself its sole director. A longtime wealth manager is listed as its secretary. The xAI website says it will develop “technology to understand the true nature of the universe.” The site also boasts employees with experience at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research (GOOGL), Microsoft Research and Twitter.
Musk is a co-founder of OpenAI, the startup that created the ChatGPT AI chatbot. But he left the board in 2018 to avoid a conflict of interest with Tesla, which has its own AI operations for its Autopilot driving system.
At the time, he told Fox News that he was working on a chatbot with truth-seeking capabilities. He has also teased a project called “TruthGPT” on social media.

The new venture is aimed at developing technology to “understand the true nature of the universe.” It will focus on science and build applications for both enterprise and consumer use, the company says.
Musk has also launched a new artificial intelligence research lab called X.ai to help the industry develop better hardware and software for AI systems. The new lab will purchase thousands of Nvidia GPU processors, the company said. Those chips are essential to building AI systems that can handle a variety of tasks at once. The X.ai team will work with researchers from universities and companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook and Microsoft to make this happen.
