HE Sheikh Abdullah A. Alhamrani

A Saudi-Arabian multi-billionaire who LibDem candidate, Elwyn Watkins calls “The Boss”

The Sheikh is being sued in Jersey in a £120 million lawsuit.

The Sheikh denies the allegations against him, which include breach of trust, conflict of interest and gross negligence.

The LibDem candidate, Elwyn Watkin (described on the National LibDem website as “Personal Advisor for HE Sheikh Abdullah A. Alhamrani”) is being criticised for not giving enough time to his responsibilities in Oldham East and Saddleworth and in Rochdale where he is a LibDem councillor.

Sheikhen - not stirred

Sheikhen - not stirred

Residents living around Birks Quarry are up in arms. Elwyn Watkins, parliamentary hopeful for the LibDems, promised faithfully to attend the public inquiry into tipping at Birks Quarry. He couldn’t stir himself sufficiently. He failed to turn up.

He said he was too busy working - presumably for the multi-billionaire sheikh not for the people he wants to represent.

Residents in his Rochdale council ward won’t be surprised about his no-show. Last year he missed nearly half of all Rochdale Council meetings. And that’s despite claiming nearly £9000 in councillors’ expenses.

We’ve been here before.

Watkins has been kicked off a school governing body for failing to attend meetings.

He is also one of Rochdale’s worst councillors for attending council meetings. Often he doesn’t even send an apology.  But he does bank his council allowances!
