Phil Woolas MP talks about his personal
expenses
claims

Phil Woolas talks about his history of claiming expenses
Some MPs have been accused of swapping their main home and second home when it suits them so they can claim more money.
Phil says: I have never done this in over 12 years as your MP.
Some MPs are accused of claiming extortionate amounts for TVs and furniture etc. Some are even accused of claiming for things for their second home but actually using them in their main home.
Phil says: I have never claimed for white goods, luxury goods, furnishings or furniture for either home.
Some MPs are accused of claiming large amounts to improve their second homes so they can make a fortune when they sell them.
Phil says: I have never claimed for any of the improvements I have made to either of my homes – I pay for them myself.
Phil Woolas MP kept his promise to live in the constituency. Since 1997, his main home has been in Lees and his second home in London.
“I have never claimed for white goods, luxury goods, furnishings cheap or expensive TVs
or furniture for either home.”
Phil Woolas MP
I promised back in 1997 when I was elected your MP that I would live locally. That’s why I have had a home in Lees for over 12 years.
Of course I need to be in London as well – to be in Parliament and as a member of the Government.
I also spend a lot of time travelling the UK and overseas doing my jobs.
